When it comes to managing an NFL roster, speciically deciding who makes the team and who doesn’t at the end of training camp each summer, the job of a general manager is not easy.

In fact, in a masochistic sort of way, a general manager’s job from the end of one season to the beginning of the next is to make those inal roster decisions as dificult as possible.

That’s done by acquiring new players to compete with the current ones in the hopes that the competition will push players to maximize their abilities. Then, the more players improve and approach their potential, the harder it is to decide which ones to keep on the inal roster, and which ones to let go.
