For probably any other quarterback walking off the field after posting a 6-10 record, the final tick of the clock would have meant a quick exit to the locker room before preparing for a long offseason of reflection.
Granted, the Green Bay Packers had just helped the hapless Detroit Lions enter the record books with the first 0-16 season in NFL history, so Aaron Rodgers knew he could at least finish a post- game interview on the field without a riot erupting.
But as he turned to run into the tunnel, even he couldn't have expected the impromptu reaction Lambeau Field's faithful delivered on that late December afternoon.
"They gave me a standing ovation," Rodgers said. "Now, to be 6-10
... well, put it this way, if you would have told me we'd be 6-10 and
I'd get a standing ovation at the end of the season, I'd have said you
were crazy.…
